BARDOLINO'S WINE ROUTE
A must for wine connoisseurs and wine lovers. The consortium for the protection of the Bardolino wine, has expanded this wonderful wine-route, which, of course, is signposted and will take you through different towns: Bardolino, Marciaga, Castion, S.Colombano, Affi, Cavaion, Cisano, Cordevigo, Lazise, Bussolengo, Pastrengo, Sandrà, Palazzolo, Ronchi, Castelnuovo and Sona.
It is an amazing trip through lush vineyards and ancient farmhouses, where wine production is carried on according to traditional methods. At the same time you will discover all about the history and art of visited places, you will see mansions of the last century as well as Roman churches and castles.
HISTORICAL NOTES OF CISANO
The origings of CISANO date back to ancient Rome; the name of this little village means “fundus Caesianus” (property of Cesius). Cisano became part of the Venetian reign after the Middle Ages, and today, it is one of the most pleasant and friendly villages at the Garda lake.
Worth to see:
- ancient church of Pieve di S. Maria in the hamlet of Cisano (originally built on the ruins of a small pagan temple and then renewed after the earthquake of 1117).
- San Severo church in Bardolino (very interesting example of Roman architecture; inside you will find nice frescos representing the Apocalypse).
- S. Zeno chapel (built between the 8th and 9th century).
The Community of Garda is an organisation that rules the independence and the legal decisions of each town at the Garda lake. This organisation is also interested in the preservation of the lake's nature; the territory of this Community includes 70 towns in the provinces of Brescia, Mantova, Trento, Verona and some towns in Lombardia, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige.
After a long and troubled history, Verona is now one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. Nice stores, interesting architecture, good food and adventurous atmosphere are just some skills of this wonderful city. In Verona at the Garda lake, there is always something to do or to see; the perfect mixture between history and modern time, for un unforgettable vacation.
